Three acclaimed artists presented a sculpture selection jury with dramatically different visions for a prominent art piece that will be placed in the roundabout at the entrance to Anacortes.
Peregrine O’Gormley proposed an elegant sculpture of swans — or other waterfowl — taking flight. Merrilee Moore displayed a model of an inviting, and almost totally abstract, steel nest. Leo Osborne showed photos of a stylized sculptural bird metamorphasizing from a log, in a dreamlike style somewhere between the other two.
