With a bit of sun finally, we can think about spring and gardens that are colorful now and will be even more so soon — like Al Currier and Anne Shreivogl’s garden at 1814 M Avenue.
The two well-known Anacortes artists were featured in a recent Seattle Times story that’s a good read.
Writer Valerie Easton describes them as “buoyant, confident colorists. Their delight in lively, contrasting hues fills their studios and spills out the door to engage their Anacortes neighborhood.”
Nice story in the Seattle Times’ travel section Sunday about the Tommy Thompson Parkway, described as an “ultracool 3.3-mile paved-and-boardwalk trail from Anacortes to March Point, which includes a mile-long crossing of Fidalgo Bay.”
From our archives — March 21, 1912: At the meeting of the Elks lodge Wednesday evening the proposition to secure three or four elk from the county commissioners to be kept on Cap Sante was discussed and finally disposed of by a decision that the scheme is impractical at this time. However, steps will be taken to have the county commissioners turn a few of them loose on Cypress island.
