Police responded to an attempted residential burglary earlier today in the 1400 block of Seventh Street. The suspects came to the front door and rang the doorbell several times. The resident was home and saw a gloved hand attempting to open the bedroom window.
The resident called 911 immediately but the suspects were gone when police arrived.
Anchor Art Space in Anacortes is hoping to stay open in coming years with the help of membership dues, instead of relying on sales from its gallery, as it moves toward being a community art space.

Nurses didn’t take any wage cuts in the new contract with Island Hospital, but they didn’t make any significant gains either.
The Island Hospital Foundation recently committed to an ongoing grant to support mental health services at Anacortes High School and Anacortes Middle School. It will fund $50,000 each year for the next five years.
